Carman Electric has been part of the Livingston County community since 1984, when it was founded by William “Big Bill” Carman. Bill was more than a skilled tradesman—he was a dedicated public servant, serving as Groveland’s town supervisor for over a decade. He was known for his big heart, his love for his family, and his unwavering commitment to helping friends, neighbors, and customers whenever they needed him.
From the time his son was fourteen, Bill made sure “Young Bill” learned every aspect of the trades—electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. That early training became essential in 2020 when Bill was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. As Bill focused on his health, Young Bill stepped in to carry forward the business with the same work ethic, integrity, and community spirit his father instilled in him.

After a courageous year-long battle, Bill passed away in 2021. His legacy lives on every day through the work his family continues to do. Today, Carman Electric is proudly female‑owned by Bill’s wife, Julie Carman, and operated by the next generation of the Carman family. Together, they honor Bill’s memory by delivering high‑quality workmanship, treating every customer like a neighbor, and staying deeply connected to the community they’ve always called home.
